Forefoot running, especially when barefoot or in minimalist shoes, is protective on the Achilles tendon than heel strike running because forefoot striking results in a contact with the ground that is so brief that certain impact force variables and irregular movement patterns of the foot are either not produced at all or are produced in safer, tolerable amounts.
