Do Running Shoes Cause Injuries?

Running shoes with stability elements actually cause injuries. One big problem with stability running shoes is the design completely counters the natural shape and function of the human foot because these shoes are too narrow in the front, too inflexible throughout and have a large elevated cushioned heel. These unergonomic factors add up to abnormal foot postures, altered foot-joint mechanics, sensory feedback deficits and because of the shoes inflexibility, the foot’s muscles, tendons, soft tissues and bones are never fully engaged physically, nor functionally. "I believe the forefoot strike is the engine of endurance running..."

BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
