Vivobarefoot Stealth 2 WP Review

Because of their ultra thinness and barefoot-feel, it’s hard to find a minimalist running shoe robust and warm enough for the winter…until the Vivobarefoot Stealth 2 WP, which is no exception when it comes to keeping your toes toasty and dry!

Vivobarefoot Stealth 2 WP Review

The ‘WP’ stands for winter proof, and that’s exactly what this shoe is beyond perfect for because it’s upper is made of Outlast temp-regulating fabric with an extra hydrophobic mesh layer for water protection and warmth.

What’s the Vivobarefoot Stealth 2 WP Good For?

Along with the big bonus of being fully winterized, the Vivobarefoot Stealth WP 2 handles running, walking or hiking on the roads and off-road in wet, icy or dry conditions.

The Stealth WP 2 is also perfect for treadmill running, too!

Sole Specifications:

The Stealth 2 WP sits on a zero-drop, 3 mm thin outsole that lets your feet feel the ground for a stronger foothold to gain better control of your forefoot running form

The outsole also has full-coverage rubberized V-tread that’s a balance of stickiness and clutchiness that bites down on wet or icing surfaces. Slipping is really the last thing to worry about in these shoes!

If you want more underfoot protection, the Stealth 2 WP comes with a removable foam insole that doesn’t feel mushy or detract from the feeling of the ground.

Upper Specifications:

As mentioned earlier, the upper of the Stealth WP 2 is built to handle any winter condition, but it’s also incredibly wide (D-width!), allowing the toes to relax and fully spread out to enhance stability which is super essential when running over warped icy grounds.

Like the sole, the upper is made of exceptionally light 100% vegan construction (no animal was harmed in the process of making these shoes) that won’t absorb water.

Final Thoughts:

Vivobarefoot has done a fine job at constructing a highly robust winterized shoe that is still barefoot-approved as the functionality and comfort of being barefoot always remains top of mind with Vivobarefoot!

With its remarkable grip and thermal insulation, this shoe really makes running on powdery snow to slush and slick ice comfortable and enjoyable!

"I believe the forefoot strike is the engine of endurance running..."

BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
