The Z Trail has the thickest outsole (10 mm) out of all barefoot sandals from Xero Shoes. With that said, the Xero Shoes Z Trail is the perfect choice for minimalist runners used to running with a thicker cushioned underfoot. The Z Trail is still 0-drop and sits low to the ground, however the sole is loaded with underfoot protection and gives a smoother, softer sensation underfoot, yet still manages to supply enough sensory support for corrective action on your running stride! BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
