Forefoot running is more economical than heel strike running because forefoot striking contributes more energy-saving elastic power efficiently by making the arch and Achilles better at loading more spring energy. This helps reduce energy use by the muscles. Landing with a forefoot strike also shortens an over-stride, resulting in more efficient accelerations and less net impact forces. Not to mention, a growing body of work, along with the fact that all short distance runners (100m -1500m) to the best long distance runners (5000m – marathon) are forefoot runners, and forefoot runners achieve more world records by a significantly larger multiple than heel strike runners, proves the correct foot strike for running is a forefoot strike.
