Yes, heel strike running is bad because, in addition to being the primary cause of shin fracture and chronic knee injury, its also damaging to the Achilles tendon as compared with forefoot running. In fact, heel strike running produces the highest value of the vertical ground reaction force that is loaded under the heel and up through the Achilles, exposing the Achilles to greater shock that was found to initiate degenerative changes within the tendon.
