Heel strike running causes the most injuries out of any other style of running. This is because landing on the back part of the foot (i.e. the heel) is always accompanied with increases in braking, jolt, jarring and shin strain, resulting in shin fracture as compared with forefoot running, which was found to have the best corrective effect on all these impact variables.
