The Altra Escalante is the perfect long distance road running companion that works functionally because the shoe moves nicely with the contours of your foot. I also appreciate the upper’s durability credit to its material density which is a tad thicker, especially at the lacing column, but breathes well and does not compromise weight, nor will it cause your feet to cook in the heat. BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
