Barefoot Running Benefits

Barefoot Running Benefits

The barefoot running benefits are endless! For one, running barefoot can lead to rapid improvements in your running form as you tend to develop better sensibility in foot strike intensity (you land more lightly), better leg swing control (you avoid over-striding) and better foot strike precision (you avoid heel strike and land more forefoot-midfooted) all of which are mechanical outputs that have proved effective in reducing heavy mechanical, compressive and torsional loads off the leg and tensile bone stress is reduced as well. For another, being barefoot in general can lead to incredible gains in foot functional strength. Read more here about how being barefoot boosts foot strength in ways conventional footwear could never do.

"I believe the forefoot strike is the engine of endurance running..."

BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
