Why is Running on Your Forefoot Better?

One of the greatest advantages of forefoot striking when running is it was found to significantly increase cadence, which results in less time for abnormal foot motions to take hold and prevents impacts from reaching pain-inducing levels than heel strike running. Basically, forefoot running is better because it results in a contact with the ground that’s so brief that many forms of impact are not fully produced or even produced at all! Read more here about why forefoot striking when running is how the foot interacts best with the ground!

"I believe the forefoot strike is the engine of endurance running..."

BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
