Injury Free Running Starts with Less Cushioning

Injury Free Running Starts with Less Cushioning

When you can feel the ground, like you can in most minimalist, barefoot-inspired running shoes, your stride reflexes are more online, the muscles and tendons of the leg are engaged more fully which altogether helps spread more landing stability, better movement coordination and powers a forefoot strike landing that’s of greater precision, enabling the foot’s arch as well as the Achilles tendon to be more spring loaded, which in turn is good for upholding economic sufficiency during running.

"I believe the forefoot strike is the engine of endurance running..."

BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
