Is Forefoot Running Faster?

Is Forefoot Running Faster?

There are many reasons forefoot running is more economical and faster than heel strike running. For one, the significantly low-impact nature of forefoot running produces less vigorous muscle tuning responses to attenuate impact-shock. Research has shown that landing with less impact during running, like in forefoot running, uses less energy for muscle tuning (because there’s less impact produced) which in turn shores up more energy for more miles. "I believe the forefoot strike is the engine of endurance running..."

BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
