Is Forefoot Running Better?

Is Forefoot Running Better?

Is forefoot running better than heel strike running? Impact forces and loading seems to dissipate best and are consistently prevented from surging to dangerous levels when initial ground-contact is made on the balls of the foot during running. Its for this reason that habitual barefoot runners, who typically land forefooted, are able to run safely, regardless of surface hardness, without generating greater impact and costly soft tissue movements and muscle tuning can be avoided altogether. Read more here about how the low-impact nature of forefoot running helps you lock in better economic stability, especially when running longer distances.

"I believe the forefoot strike is the engine of endurance running..."

BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
