One of the many functional assets of most minimalist running shoes is a wide toe-box. In a wide toe-box, the toes are more functionally usable as they’re able to spread, flex, bend, extend and relax more fully which is incredibly effective in improving both static and dynamic balance and may prevent overloads on the forefoot as compared with narrow, stiff running shoes.
