Is Forefoot Running Better?

Forefoot running automatically engages a plantarflexed foot (forefoot points down) upon and at touchdown which helps guide the foot to land closer to the center mass (upper body). This positional arrangement of the foot relative to the upper body at touchdown seems to act as a natural barrier that significantly reduces heavy impact burdens and may be necessary to prevent dangerous rises in compartment pressure of the foot-ankle complex as compared with heel strike running. "I believe the forefoot strike is the engine of endurance running..."

BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
