The vast majority of the elite runners who are record holders across all running distances, from the 100-m to the marathon, are forefoot runners or mid-foot runners, not heel strike runners as forefoot running was consistently found to sustain safer at extremely faster running velocities. This is because landing with a forefoot strike naturally aligns your stride mechanics and upper body posture in a more functionally useful direction, rather than out of range similar to heel strike running, which engages a large over-stride and an upper body posture that falls too far behind your initial foot strike position. Read more here about why forefoot running is the proper way to run!
