What is a Forefoot Strike?

A proper forefoot strike landing does not involve landing high up on the toes, rather its a much lower strike angle of the foot on the ground where initial contact is made below the toes on the balls of the foot but towards the outer edge of the foot (as shown in the photo). This landing pattern has enormous functional significance because it disperses impact pressure on a wider surface area, resulting in significantly lower impact, which not only un-stresses the body, its more energy efficient since less vigorous muscle tuning (shock attenuation in the muscles) is needed!
