The most obvious challenge in running is running with optimal form and avoiding injuries. Luckily, ongoing research into this has found that barefoot running improves the mechanical chain of events that accounts for lighter, more responsive footfalls than cushioned running shoes. This is because the abundant feel of the ground gets translated into enhanced neuromuscular instructions for stable landing control, a forefoot strike that affords more elastic energy loaded into the arch and Achilles which promotes greater energy-efficiency because costly muscular demands are reduced. Also, the more you run and walk barefoot, the stronger your foot will be to better stabilize itself, especially on uneven terrain.
