Why Barefoot Running is Better on the Feet

Why Barefoot Running is Better on the Feet

One of the many reasons barefoot running is actually better for your feet is that it increases the ground-feel needed for the foot’s reflexes to prevent pavement pounding. This resulted in softer, lighter foot-falls that prevented dangerous rises in underfoot peak pressures and fracture-inducing stress on the foot as compared with running in thickly cushioned running shoes. Read more here about how barefoot running prevents foot bone fractures as compared with conventional running shoes.

"I believe the forefoot strike is the engine of endurance running..."

BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
