Do Cushioned Running Shoes Prevent Injury?

Cushioned running shoes do not prevent injury. Running in heeled running shoes increases heel striking and overstriding, which means the foot lands in front of the ankle, knee and hips. In this way, there are more damaging forces acting on the body than if the foot were to land under the ankle, knee and closer to the hips, which is usually the case when landing with a forefoot strike, especially in minimalist running shoes or running barefoot.
