Is Forefoot Running Better for Reducing Damaging Impact?

One of the major advantages of forefoot running is there’s less damaging impacts on the entire body as compared with heel strike running. This is because landing with a forefoot strike instantly guides your entire stride to be more functionally aligned closer to your center of mass (upper body). This enables your body to brake less with the ground at each step whereas heel strike running always produces the highest, most damaging brake force, no matter how thickly cushioned your running shoes are. "I believe the forefoot strike is the engine of endurance running..."

BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
