Legs Hurt While Running? Here’s How Forefoot Running Helps!

Above shows a forefoot strike landing pattern during running. As indicated by the red arrow, shows ankle plantarflexion at touchdown meaning the front of the foot is pointed down towards the ground at touchdown. This positional alignment of the foot at touchdown brings into line more quickly the rest of the leg to land closer to the mass of the body in which the net effect is stark reductions in impact loads, perfectly preventing dangerous rises in intramuscular pressure of the lower leg. These results make it clear that more therapeutic gains in lower leg conditions can be made with forefoot running over heel strike running. Read more here!!

"I believe the forefoot strike is the engine of endurance running..."

BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
