It’s highly injurious to heel strike when running because it’s most damaging to the heel, even if you wear a thickly cushioned running shoe. Only in a heel strike landing is there a spike in collisional impact that over-loads the heel, whereby reducing this impact cannot happen with increased heel cushioning as it was found to actually amplify impact.
