Which Running Shoes for the Treadmill?

Footwear has a provenly enormous influence on running form, especially on the treadmill whereby minimalist shoes (which are basically wide racing flats) were found to engage the most stable, low-impact mechanics than conventional running shoes.

A study by Chambon et al. in the European Journal of Applied Physiology discovered that runners ran best on a treadmill when barefoot or in zero-drop running shoes (minimalist shoes) than in standard running shoes with a large wedged cushioned heel.

More specially, the researchers found that minimalist shoes produced less loading, less transient peaks (less burst in high braking impact), less ankle dorsiflexion (less potential to heel strike) and greater knee flexion (better knee stability) at touchdown, all of which are well-known mechanics that generate the least amount of net impact as compared to the standard shod runners.
