Professional runners use barefoot shoes, called ‘racing flats’ on the track. The shoes flatter sole guides the direction of the foot to land as a forefoot strike. This is why you rarely see track runners stomping on their heels. Another added benefit of barefoot shoes is the unrestrictive, wide, flexible fit keeps the feet strong and tolerant because it creates an enabling environment for the foot to operate independently, whereas the feet aren’t engaged in the way that they should in traditional running shoes which counter the natural silhouette of the foot.
