Forefoot Running is Better for Overpronators

If you’re a runner who struggles with overpronation, ditch the stability running shoes and land with a forefoot strike! One of the many advantages forefoot running has over heel strike running is that it prevents overpronation as there’s less pronatory effort needed for stability and impact attenuation. This is because the mechanical components of forefoot running results in a foot-ground interaction that’s so brief that certain forms of impact forces and mechanical entanglements are not fully produced like they are in heel strike running. "I believe the forefoot strike is the engine of endurance running..."

BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
