One of the big reasons cushioned running shoes are so bad is there’s nothing about them that provides protection against harmful impacts. Case in point, a study in the journal Biomechanics found that loads on the hip were the highest and foot strike intensity was the most forceful in cushioned running shoes as compared with running barefoot.
