The big reasons minimalist shoes are great for running is that the flat, thin, flexible sole delivers more ground-feel which adds more natural stimulus for enhanced neuromuscular and reflexive responses in the leg, namely the knee-joint. This results in a faster acquisition and greater improvements for more functional, stable mechanics at the knee (increased knee flexion/bend) which in turn increases the efficiency and safeness of your overall stride. This also strongly encourages a forefoot strike that reduces impact loads across the entire leg and torso vs a high-impact heel strike. Read more here!
