Forefoot Running is NOT Toe Strike Running

Forefoot Running is NOT Toe Strike Running

The problem with toe strike running is that initial ground-contact is made too high up on the toes, and the heel never drops to the ground either. In this way, impact pressure can’t spread evenly over the foot, and instead, remains heavily localized on the forefoot where a metatarsal stress fracture is highly likely to happen. This is not the case in forefoot running which is a completely different, and safer landing pattern of the foot. Read more here!

"I believe the forefoot strike is the engine of endurance running..."

BSc Neurobiology; MSc Biomechanics candidate, ultra minimalist runner & founder of RunForefoot. I was a heel striker, always injured. I was inspired by the great Tirunesh Dibaba to try forefoot running. Now, I'm injury free. This is why I launched Run Forefoot, to advocate the health & performance benefits of forefoot running and to raise awareness on the dangers of heel striking, because the world needs to know.
