Is It Better to Heel Strike or Forefoot Strike When Running?

Studies consistently point to forefoot strike running as being significantly better than heel strike running. This is because forefoot running engages the mechanics that dramatically reduce the impact variables and other physical stressors that are produced in heel strike running that are also linked to most injuries! Case in point, Shalane Flanagan developed a heavy heel strike when she switched from the track to the roads, and she had both knees replaced at the end of her career, which makes the case stronger that heel strike running does not sustain well on the body. This is never the case with forefoot running! Read more here!
